That was great. Looks like the wife should have let him buy ammo when they had a chance. Also, good lesson on keeping your mouth shut.

That was very well done. A gun with no ammo...d'oh!

Unless you're a hermit, we ALL have "old friends."

And running generators are the perfect way to attract them back into your life.

And what was the cause of this tale of woe??

THE BRAT DID NOT UNDERSTAND THAT HER PRIOR WAY OF LIFE WENT THE WAY OF THE DINOSAUR.

UNDERSTAND WHEN THE HAMMER FALLS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US BECOMES A DE FACTO DICTATOR.

YOUR WORD IS THE LAW AND YOU RULE WITH A IRON FIST.

ANYONE WHO DOES NOT LIKE CAN IT CAN FEND FOR THEMSELF OR REPORT TO NEAREST FEMA CAMP AND ASK FOR "HELP"

The time to get clear about this IS NOW.

Not really..........some of them are brain dead fair worse than that girl.

I have seen it with my own two eyes.

It was a very accurate portrayal of how some people will meet their demise: Exposing themself to needless risk so they can appease a (nagging) family member.

That will play out MANY TIMES over.

Actually I thought she did a pretty good job of playing a self-centered, obnoxious 15 year old girl.

This clip was erie as it portrays all of our worst GIM nightmares.

Despite the fact that the two "old freinds" had the looks/mannerisms of hoodlums fresh from the joint, this may be a fairly accurate portrayal of the post collaspsed katrina-americano's new lifestyle.

I do agree that no man is an Island, but this film clip is the reason I stopped talking about preps/gold/weapons with anyone outside of this anonyomous forum and trusted freinds/family.

Desperate times are coming and we don't have a clue what they will look like but now is the time to brain storm these possible scenerios to best advise our loved ones on how to prepare.

In this scenerio, dying early from the avarian flu might be a blessing in disguise.

So enjoy these good old days while they last, right here and now, and be careful on who you cue into ur survival plans..

The acting may not have been "Hollywood" standards, however, the point and idea is made.

1st, just having a gun is not enough.

2nd, keep control of your gun at all times.

3rd, keep your mouth shut of your preparations.

4th, train your family to do with out...that child was out of control with the whining in a time like that. I love blackouts in our area, we pull out the board games and play by candle light! The kids love it!

5th, Do not give in to pleaing if you are not going to give all. Like a stray cat, they will not go away. If you are bent on helping your neighbors, help them now, buy donating to food places or get them to store their own food.

I could keep going but I will stop there.

Bottom line, it is good to help others, but you do have to weigh it out to at what extent... Are you willing to sacrifice your family?

:508: I finally found my soap box! LOL!

We intentionally shut the power off one day a week to prepare our family (Me, wife, and three daughters ages 10, 8, 6) for a situation similar to this. We call it electricity-free Thursday.

One part of the movie that was totally unrealistic... men with third degree
burns on half of their face are not horny.

EXACTLY what I thought when I saw it. Anyone who has been badly burned will immediately see that error.

Hmmm -

Community, neighbors.

http://www2.gol.com/users/quakers/simple_gifts.htm

If you put your energy into that,

Rather than the widely advertised really ugly end of world projections,

I believe you have a much better chance

Not only of survival,

But a pretty wholesome life,

No matter the difficulties.

And no, I'm not Shaker, but I admire them

For just how well they had their shit together.

Not exactly. The father was a pansy, who:

1) (most importantly) followed the orders of his pacifist wife, and failed to purchase ammunition;
2) didn't get in the girl's face, using force if necessary, to get her to STFU and come to a realization that her life was permanently changed, and her bullshit was threatening hers and her family's well-being.
3) failed to put the wife back in her place when she protested his "cruel insensitivity" to the girl's stupidity (this one's hypothetical, of course).

Looked 100% accurate to some of teenagers I've observed first-hand.

Grim stuff. I liked some of the details - booby traps, ladder, scavenging for fuel, water supply. That really would be my worst nightmare and it's got me thinking harder about getting out of dodge versus holding out at home.
